IRS Opening Day is Monday, January 22, 2024

*IRS Opening Day is Monday, January 22 2024*  We encourage all clients to gather their tax records and file the returns early this year. Remember that there are several ways to get your documents to us. Use the secure link at the bottom of this letter to upload documents to your encrypted and secure, personal ShareFile folder. Send your docs via US Postal Service, UPS, or Federal Express. If possible, send copies instead of your original documents. Drop all docs off at our office. Use the secure door slot for drop off after business hours. Fax all to 614-771-7774. The 2023 Tax Questionnaire, Engagement Letters, and Worksheets are available on our website at https://setcpa.com/resources/

It is in your best interest to file early. Here is why…. First, is the growing threat of identity theft involving tax returns. If someone files a tax return in your name using your identity, it can take two years or more for the IRS to sort through all the red tape and find the cause of the problem. You can imagine the mess this can create with finances. The best defense is a good offense. File your return as early as possible so you can beat the identity thieves.
Additionally, anyone can apply for and receive an IRS IP PIN. This is an additional layer of ID verification and security for each individual. To apply, or simply learn more about the IP PIN, visit the IRS website, https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pinPlease note that once you enroll in the IP Pin program, there is no way to Opt-Out.
Also, we encourage everyone to file early to avoid any additional costs. If your documents are not in our office by March 16th
, additional fees will apply to ensure timely filing of the returns. If your return is not filed by April 18th, the taxing authorities can add fees, interest, and penalties that apply to any return filed or payment made after the filing deadline. Remember to download your Social Security statement online at https://www.ssa.gov/. If you have not already, you will need to register with them first. Please include this statement with your tax information so that we may review it to ensure all of your earnings have been posted.

We appreciate all the referrals you have given us in the past, and we hope you will continue to recommend us to your family and friends. We assure you that we will take care of them with the same level of dedication and personalized attention that you are accustomed to receiving from us.
